Tailor, Darzi and I

The other day Sam said something simple that really struck a chord. He said, his favorite part of starting his own practice was the freedom he had to work on projects with his friends and people who appreciate and respect the product. For this reason, I am very thankful for having someone like Sam as not only my alterations tailor but a great friend.

I met Sam for the first time a year ago and still every time we meet, I feel an infectious enthusiasm for his work. Maybe it’s the fact that both of us come from places where people have grown to have very little respect for this field, I find solace in his passion.

Sam to me is like a character out of my father’s stories of his tailors. He will listen very carefully to your opinions and advice, only to give you the most succinct astute notes at the end. He dresses sharply and more importantly understands the significance of proportion with respect to one’s body and clothing. Sam is a perfectionist and will never let you leave unsatisfied or your clothes perfectly ironed and packed.

In the end, Sam is just an all round great guy: a true gentleman and that’s the very reason why I volunteer to make the tailoring runs at the office.
